Chelston Gallery in Torquay, Devon offers a bespoke picture framing service and has regular exhibitions in its art gallery section. A particular feature of the pictures exhibited and for sale is that the artists all come from in and around the Torbay area - including Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmoor and Teignbridge District. The gallery, which probably hosts Torbay's largest collection of original art for sale, is owned and run by Kevin Alexander.
Use the links above left to find out more about the framing services offered and the range of art on display and for sale. Opening times are shown below.
With easy (and free) parking close by, Chelston Gallery welcomes those who just wish to browse the art and those who wish to discuss framing options for their own items. Artists whose work is on display include Kevin Alexander, Richard Berry, Peter Blakesley, Nancy Celli, Jean-Alice Coombe, Maya Costas King, David Cowell, Tammie Doe, Martin Dutton, Peter Garratt, Derek Hayward, Charlotte Hetheridge, Tony Homer (whose painting of the gallery is shown here), Marta Killey, Sandra Litchfield, Val Lloyd, Craig Long, David Norman, Anne Radu, Greg Ramsden and Ben Yates.

Picture Framing
The framing corner of the gallery has a selection of over 300 mouldings including plain woods, stained woods, golds and silvers and 100 mount colours - enough to choice to suit all tastes.
By using quality materials and personally making the frames, Kevin is confident that all framed work leaving the shop is of the highest standard whilst also at sensible prices.
More information about the framing service offered can be found on the framing and quotes pages.

Exhibitions
A key feature of the Gallery is the Exhibition Space, an area reserved for featured artists. The exhibitions change every three or four weeks, so there is always something new to view. See the Exhibitions and Diary pages for more information. This is one of the few of Torbay's galleries to exclusively feature locally produced works of art.
Recent exhibitions include Richard Berry's beautiful images of Devon scenery, Tammie Doe's paintings to make you smile, Charlotte Hetheridge's colourful interpretations of Beach Huts, the unusual photographic sculptures by Ben Yates, beautiful water colours by Peter Garratt and coastal oils by Jean-Alice Coombe. The exhibition shown here features another recent exhibition of work by the pupils of Barton Primary School. Currently showing is a collection by artist Jenny Toft (see the exhibitions page for further details).
In addition to the exhibition space is a further collection of work on display by my regular artists (see the Paintings, Other Art and Artists pages). There is a change round of what is displayed every so often, so it worth popping in when you can to see what is new.

Local Scenes
Torbay (with the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and the villages of Cockington and Babbacombe), and neighbouring Dartmoor are nationally recognised as being areas of great beauty. Chelston Gallery has a number of original works, limited edition prints, and photographs for sale featuring local scenes that capture the area in a variety of styles and at a range of prices. The illustration here is a drawing by Kevin Alexander of The Coffin House in Brixham.
